About Me

I'm a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy, working with Yixin Zou. I earned my PhD in Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington in the Security & Privacy Research Lab, advised by Tadayoshi Kohno and Franziska Roesner. My research area is human-centered computer security & privacy, with a specific focus on underserved or marginalized communities. Through my research, I attempt to do impactful computer security & privacy research that fulfills my sense of curiosity, justice, and hope. My long-term vision is to ensure that technology does not disproportionately harm those with the least power to resist it. I grew up in rural northern Louisiana, and I'm a first-generation college student. I owe the victories in my life to all the investments my friends, family, teachers, and communities have made in me. If you're reading this, you might be one of those people; thank you!

Updates

May 14, 2026 - Please consider submitting (1-3 pages) to the 1st Workshop on Surveillance and Usable Privacy (co-located with SOUPS 2026 in Hanover, Germany) by May 28, 2026 23:59 Anywhere on Earth. We're hoping to bring together scholars from surveillance studies and human-centered privacy (historically known as "usable privacy") to facilitate knowledge-sharing and learn new ways of approaching our work within our respective fields. Feel free to reach out with any questions. More details can be found here: https://sup2026.codeberg.page/

May 6, 2026 - I really enjoyed giving a colloquium talk ("Human-Centered Security & Privacy Research and Surveillance") at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS). I received an array of thought-provoking questions and positive feedback on the talk. There are some super smart folks (from a variety of disciplines) doing really cool research there, including my host Marco Wähner. I definitely recommend visiting if you get the chance!
